► Discover Porto Vecchio and the area
Corisca, named Kalliste (the most beautiful) by the Greeks,
is an island in the Mediterranean with a wide range of landscapes and areas to discover. The Porto Vecchio U Pirellu camping presents this fantastic area.
South East :
The town of Porto Vecchio (Purtivechju) is perched on a pink granite rock in the crook of a wide and protected gulf and is currently home to an ever increasing population and prosperous touristic activity.
The town is pleasant and the old quarter is quite picturesque. Development over the last few decades has enabled the town to rise spectacularly and to join the club of the island’s most populous areas. Porto Vecchio is now the third city in Corsica…
These days, Porto Vecchio is the archetypal tourist city and can accommodate up to three times the number of permanent residents. This success is due to a key asset: the attraction of the sea/mountain combination and the variety of leisure activities available. The number of summer visitors proves it.
As soon as the sun comes out, the regulars rush
down to the idyllic beaches of Palombaggia, Santa Giulia,
Aschiaghju south of Porto Vecchio and Cala rossa, Saint Cyprien, Benedettu, Pinarellu, north of Porto Vecchio.
Around Bonifacio :
Rondinara, Sant’Amanza, Canetto, Cala longa, Petit spérone, Piantarella, Tonnara.
In the hinterlands, the rocky peaks of Bavella and the beautiful forest of Ospedale provide coolness and look out points.
Prehistoric sites to discover :
Castellu d’Araghju, Castellu di Capula, Castellu di Cucuruzzu, Torre, Filitosa, Tappa, Site de Cauria.
► Some culture and traditions…
Local delicacies are enjoying a renewal
in the new gastronomic trend.
Many shops selling charcuterie, cheese and Corsican products are popping up and dynamic handicraft is updating traditional techniques which have sometimes been forgotten, putting Corsica on an upward trajectory once again...
chestnuts, olives, citron, preserves and liqueurs,
nougat, charcuterie, honey, cheese, wine…
All of this produce that the Île de Beauté can reveal
to food lovers and gourmets.
